A good facial cleanser must clean while preserving the balance of the skin, that is to say without “aggressing”. The use of different products alters the hydrolipidic film and promotes skin dryness, uncomfortable and detrimental to the health of the skin.
Here you can find how to choose a facial cleanser.
Prefer a “soap-free” solution (the soap dries the skin): surgras cleanser, dermatological bread, liquid syndet.
Choose it for your skin type: dry, normal, mixed, oily.
If you have a doubt about your skin type, or the product you are using does not suit you, opt for a soft product suitable for dry skin, the most sensitive. A too astringent cleanser may cause:
redness, irritation, peeling on dry, mixed or normal skin;
reactive hyperseborrhoea on oily skin (the skin reacts to aggression by producing more sebum).
Different galenic forms are available. The choice of one or the other is above all a question of preference:
Foaming cleansers: they apply on wet face and rinse with fresh water. Many brands offered in pharmacy, large and medium surface or perfume are available according to the different skin types.
Micellar waters: they contain tiny particles of surfactant compounds that cleanse the skin. They apply directly using a cotton pad and do not rinse.
They are suitable for oily, mixed and normal skin, less for dry skin:
Cleansing milk: their mild formulas are particularly suitable for dry and sensitive skin. They are applied with the fingertips by a light massage. The excess will be removed using cotton, possibly soaked with tonic lotion.
Cleansing waters: suitable for normal to oily skin and light makeup, they do not require rinsing.
Cleansing oils: effective in removing makeup “waterproof”, they rinse with water and are generally well tolerated by sensitive skin.
Only use make-up removers with label “face and eyes” for the eye and eyelids.
